...okay, here I come with my angry rant!
Initially, it was supposed to be about the weird sudden attitude people have spawned over paypal fees this year; I'm pretty sure it was just a...thing. A nice thing to do, adding paypal fees to the payment -- an option, more often than not.
Since 2013 came around, I've had two complaints that I asked for Paypal fees (as an option, not a requirement) and they both backed out of the sales, with, what I think was a pretty cheeky, stuck-up attitude. : /
Now, I don't intend to change my ways -- there's always going to be people like that, especially on DOA, but it was quite a surprise. A lot of people ask for this -- some insist on fees being paid, but most have just been a polite request, which I respect, what with the recent raise in sending/receiving dollies around the world. If you can afford it, be a little kinder! Sellers seem to lose out with fees more often that not, these days. We're not all evil little money-grabbers!
....but since that, I came across something on DOA that annoyed me a lot more...
A girl created a thread to ask about fur wigs; she wanted advice on the ethics of a mohair wig, as she was unsure if it was cruelty free or not. There was a reply that mohair wigs are from the sheered wool of sheep, and that it was perfectly fine, cruelty-wise, but the other replies appalled me.
Quite a few people seemed to already know that there is A Lot More To It Than That, and a lot of sheep and goats suffer terribly from it.
(Please be aware that there may be upsetting images on the site provided)
but in fact, they don't care!
"Sheep/Goats/Cows" are okay, because they are livestock and are taken for their meat anyway!"
...people are so heartless, ignorant and sick.
The industries are not the same -- they are kept in different places for different things, because there's a profit in both meat and wool//fur//leather!
Back in the older days, or when humans used their own animals for personal use, yes, they would keep and care for the animal, then when the time came, they would kill the animal humanely, use the meat for food, the coat for clothing/warmth/protection, etc -- they would use all the animal parts they could, rather than waste its life.
Industries today are not that way; they are even more despicable and cruel than they need to be, because everyone is too ignorant and cushy with their benefits to care, or find out what is really happening. I could share things here that would absolutely mortify, but I am not here to preach about that. I am posting this, asking people to think: do we really need this to happen for the sake of dolls?
I love my little guys and girls, of course, and always want them to look their best, but also, please remember that dolls, being inanimate objects, do not feel any benefits from animal products.
Fur won't keep them warm, leather won't improve anything for them either; there's plenty of alternative and fake materials that are cruelty free... please keep this in mind and help me make a stand, by not buying animal-based products -- our dollies don't need animals to suffer and die to look good!
